Chief Nurse ÃÛÌÒav Academy Members can nominate one ÃÛÌÒav Fellow annually to participate in a tailored leadership development programme.

The Fellows programme is aimed at nurses and midwives who have registered within the past five years as we want to close the gap in professional leadership development opportunities across health and social care settings.

We actively encourage Chief Nurses to nominate individuals who have not yet embarked upon an opportunity like this previously. Details of the programme can be found below, as well as examples of the impact the Fellowship has had on participants.

We will be opening nominations for 2025/26 Fellows in June.

The Programme

The Fellows programme is made up of several elements

  • Core learning events: live online sessions, led by individuals who are experts in their field – see details below.
  • Community of Practice. There are several online sessions during the programme to support this. We also encourage Fellows to stay in touch with each other virtually between sessions, as they wish.
  • Reverse mentoring: this aims to foster a two-way exchange of information, enhance cross-generational understanding, and promote a collaborative learning environment within healthcare settings. Fellows will need to identify a reverse mentor from within their organisation, this is usually the Chief Nurse/ Director of Nursing. Further details will be sent before the programme starts.
  • Ongoing engagement and opportunities. There may be other ad-hoc opportunities that are open to Fellows during the course of the programme. In addition, all Fellows will be expected to author a reflective blog of their Fellowship and document their journey via their preferred social media platform which will enable them to apply their learning to their career development.

At the start of the fellowship, it was hard to predict how much I would gain from this opportunity…I think the biggest impact for me is the networking. I am a firm believer in not reinventing the wheel within the NHS and the collaboration and networks established this year alone have made me excited for the future.
